Arrested Assam Police Service (APS) officer and daughter of BJP’s Tezpur Lok Sabha MP RP Sharma, Pallavi Sharma, who was recently jailed along with 18 other State Government officers, for allegedly being involved in the multi-crore Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam, received interim bail for 14 days on Wednesday.

The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday granted the interim bail to Pallavi Sharma on humanitarian ground. Pallavi Sharma was supposed to provide a kidney to his father, RP Sharma, who has been undergoing treatment for kidney ailment in Kolkata.

It may be mentioned that earlier, the lower court had rejected bail to Pallavi Sharma. But on Wednesday, the HC granted her bail considering the serious health condition of her father.

During the bail period, she will be escorted by a woman police constable and Sharma will have to bear all the expenses. Besides, Pallavi Sharma will not be able to get herself engaged at any other activities other than attending her ailing father in Kolkata.”

The High Court has ordered Pallavi Sharma to report before the court after 14 days.

Before her arrest on July 18, 2018, Pallavi Sharma had been serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
