The Suderashan Public School, Khanapara, Guwahati was the only school from the northeast to bag the prestigious British Council International School Award in a recently held ceremony in Delhi.

Suderashan Public School has been accredited for outstanding development of the international dimension in their curriculum.

The International School Award has been accredited for the period 2018-21.

During the event, 44 other schools from Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal were also awarded.

Duncan Wilson, director of Schools, English and Skills at the British Council said that these awards encourage schools to work with global citizenship values, offer a benchmark to teachers who want to offer best learning practices and recognize those who achieve excellence in these areas.

He also expressed happiness to see the participation of a number of schools this year for the award.

Debanjan Chakrabarti , director of east and northeast India at British Council said that there is a need to move from propositional to procedural learning.

He said that it is very important for students to know ‘why’ and ‘how’ more than ‘what’ and ‘when’.He also hoped that to see more schools participating for International School Awards in the future.
