Assam Rifles nab three militant groups’ sympathizers in Manipur

The troops of 9 Sector of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) claimed to have apprehended three sympathizers of Manipur based proscribed underground groups in three separate operations, according to a press release.

In two separate operations, Tulihal Battalion along with Imphal West and Imphal East Police apprehended two sympathizers -Yumnam Nanao Singh alias Naocha of proscribed group People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from Mayang in Imphal on Thursday and Koijam Dewan Singh of proscribed group Kangleipak Communist Party from Bashikhong on Friday, said the public relations officer of Assam Rifles in a release.

Yumnam Nanao Singh was working as a recruiting agent for PREPAK and Koijam Dewan Singh was involved in carrying out extortion activities for KCP, the Assam Rifles release claimed.

In another operation, Thoubal Battalion in association with Thoubal commandos apprehended a sympathizer of proscribed group KCP (N), Md Sadam alias Arun from Thoubal Bazaar on Thursday, it added.

The individual was involved in carrying out extortion activities for KCP (N).

All the apprehended individuals were handed over to police for further legal actions, it added.
