The security forces have apprehended two suspected cadres of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO) along the Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel district in Manipur.
The suspected persons were arrested based on specific input with the security forces about the possible movement of two possible militants in the area.

Based on the input, an operation was launched and the two persons were apprehended.

After the apprehension, the two suspects were handed over to the Manipur Police and further investigation has been initiated.

There has been no information about the persons having any sophisticated arms with them but they were said to be insurgents.

The Assam Rifles in a Tweet said, “ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS INSURGENTS IN MANIPUR Sajik Tampak Battalion of #AssamRifles apprehended two insurgents of proscribed insurgent group PREPAK (PRO) near India – Myanmar Border in Chandel District, Manipur on 22 Dec 21.”
It may be mentioned that the claiming to be the “most genuine revolutionary groups” in Manipur, the PREPAK’s main demand is the expulsion of ‘outsiders’ from the State.
