Assam Rifles took part in the four-day ‘Destination North East’ fest in Varanasi.
The event was organized by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
It aims to celebrate the essence of the Northeast.

This was stated in a press release issued by PRO Assam Rifles, Lt Col Umesh Bajantri.
Assam Rifles kept the audience spellbound by the performance of its Jazz Band attired in traditional costumes.
The audience also appreciated the event that showcased the 184 rich history of the Force in the form of a stage performance titled ‘Assam Rifles Through the Ages.’
The event was inaugurated by the Minister of DoNER along with other dignitaries including Lieutenant General Sukhdeep Sangwan, director general of Assam Rfiles.
In his address to the gathering he invited people to visit the actual Northeast in remote areas rather than remaining confined to the perceived Northeast that remains restricted to Guwahati, Shillong, Kaziranga etc.
Participation of Assam Rifles paved the way for showcasing the relentless pursuit of the Force towards overall development of the North East region, the release added.
