The general assembly of the Ranjan Daimary faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-R) was on Sunday under the chairmanship of B Riminlang, the speaker of the NDFB (R).

In a press statement, B Ohnjalu, general secretary of the NDFB(R), on Monday stated the assembly, after thorough and lengthy deliberation, urged the Government of India not to test the patience of the NDFB but to bring a lasting solution of the long standing political issue of the Boros by expediting the peace process.

The NDFB-R also urged the Central Government to release the leaders and cadres of the NDFB (R) who have been lodged in Guwahati Central Jail under judicial custody without conviction for the last 9 years immediately.

The NDFB faction also urged the Central Government not to “derail and jeopardise the hard-earned peace process in consequence of the fast track trial of the Session Case No: 59 (K), 2011 in a CBI Special Court”.
“The general assembly has also discussed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which
facilitates the migration of Hindus and other minorities of Bangladesh, Pakistan and
Afghanistan and its impact on the indigenous peoples in the entire North-East, particularly in Boroland and reiterated its strong opposition,” stated the NDFB-R general secretary.
