In the wake of opposition to Citizenship Bill in Assam Valley, former President of All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) and BJP member, Pradip Dutta Roy, has raked up separate Barak Valley state demand.
Addressing the press at his residence in Silchar on Monday, Roy said, “With the remarks of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to pass the Citizens Amendment Bill at a rally in Silchar on January 4, which is also being tabled in Parliament today, I am surprised to see AASU, KMSS and the AGP, opposing it vehemently.”

Pradip Dutta Roy said, “AASU and NESO have called for a bandh tomorrow, which won’t have any effect out here in Barak valley or our neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura and Mizoram.”

Later, talking to Northeast Now, he added, “When the Centre has constituted a nine-member committee to implement the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, as early as possible, these organizations’ opposition to this bill is condemnable and I would like to say that they are hell bent on making Badruddin Ajmal, the next Chief Minister of this state, pretty soon.”

“If they keep on opposing this bill, than, Barak won’t stand by their side. Barak valley would separate from Assam if they keep opposing this bill. They should decide whether they want Barak Valley to remain a part of Assam or not. If they want Barak Valley to remain within Assam, than, they should support the passing of this bill,” said, Dutta Roy, talking to this correspondent.
Before winding up his conversation with Northeast Now, he also did not stop from vilifying the Congress party for their stand on this bill.
“Congress is playing a duel role on Citizenship (Amendment Bill), so far. Member of Parliament from Silchar and All India Mahila Congress President, Sushmita Dev, who is a JPC member, opposed it in Delhi and speaks in favour of it in Silchar. People, who have voted her in power in 2014, would throw her out this time round, for all such deeds,” said Roy
