A Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) was held at Mushalpur in Baksa district on Saturday.
In the meeting, the new body of the UPPL took the charge of office from the old body.
Maoti Brahma Hazowary, new general secretary of the party, also took over the charge.
Oath-taking ceremony of new body was conducted by the president of the party and former Rajya Sabha MP, UG Brahma.
During the CWC meeting, the UPPL also strongly condemned the Dhola-Sadiya incident of killing 5 innocent people from the Bengali community on October 1.
Stringent actions against the culprits and severe punishments to them were demanded in the meeting. All sections of people in Assam have been appealed to maintain peace and tranquility in the State, informed UPPL president UG Brahma in a press statement.
“A strong committee, headed by Maoti Brahma Hazowary, has been constituted for district to district tour. The team comprises Somnath Narzary, president of the youth wing, Narayan Mozumdar, president of the SC Cell, Hanif Ali, president of the Minority Cell and Bina Goyary, president of the women wing,” Brahma added further.
“The party CWC also decided to field candidates in forthcoming Panchayat election in Assam,” stated Brahma.
The CWC also appealed to all the district committees of the party to get prepared for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled to be held in 2019.
The meeting emphasized on winning the Lok Sabha elections.
