Winners of the Quiz Competition

‘EQ-The Election Quotient’, the state level quiz competition, which was organized by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam successfully concluded at Dr Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium, IIT Guwahati, with a participation of 107 teams from different districts of the State.

The district level quizzes were organized by the election districts last week from which the two best teams were selected to represent the election district at the state level quiz.

Teams from Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Karimganj, Karbi Anglong, Udalguri, North Salmara, South Salmara, Charaideu, Lakhimpur, Dima Hasao, Dhubri, Biswanath participated among others.

On-the-spot registration and online registration were done to encourage maximum number of young voters to participate in the event.

This initiative was taken up by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer to spread the awareness about electoral participation and ethical voting among the young voters.

Teams from Assam Engineering College, Tezpur University, Dhemaji College, University Law College, Gauhati University, Gauhati Medical College, Cotton University, National Law University and IIT Guwahati competed for the top-positions in the final stages.

The champions were Himangshu Sonowal and Sudarshan Goswami from National Law University while the next two positions went to Aditya Kumar and Himangshu Chaudhary (IIT, Guwahati) and Dipankar Deka and Plawan Sarma (Cotton University) respectively.

Cash prize and certificates were given away to 12 teams. The first, second and third teams won cash prize worth Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

The quiz was conducted by Dr Upakul Sarmah, assistant registrar, Tezpur University.
