Local NGO of Assam Aaranyak with Biswanath Wildlife Division organized a three-day training programme to strengthen capacity building of staff in dealing with wildlife crime.
The training programme which has been organized in support of international NGO Rhino Foundation was held at Biswanath Ghat.
Selected staff of Central Range, Crime Investigation Range and Biswanath Wildlife Division took part in the programme. Only 11 staff will be imparted closed door and field training for there.
In the next phase training of Eastern and Western Range will be completed.
Mukut Das DFO Biswanath Wildlife Division, Biswanath Chariali, Dr Bibhab Talukder Secretary General Aranyak, Pranjal Barua, Range Officer Central and Crime Investigation Range, Pranjal Das , Manager Wildlife Genetics Division of Aranyak and Jadav Mandal of International Rhino Foundation took part in the inaugural function.
The conviction rate of miscreants is sure to increase with such training as District Legal Service Authority also imparted similar training in October 2018 to the staff of the new division.
NGO Aaranyak’ secretary General Bibhab Talukder announced providing one sniffer dog to the division. The new sniffer dog will be an addition to Quarmy the sniffer dog that the division currently handles.
