A trial court has sentenced a murder accused to life imprisonment for stabbing a man to death in Tezpur in 2012.
Additional Session Judge Ramen Baruah, in a Fast Track Court (FTC) of Tezpur held the accused, Papu Saikia guilty and awarded life imprisonment to him.
On May 5 in 2012 during a Bihu Programme at Collegiate School field here, accused Papu Saikia stabbed Tapan Deka, who was a night chowkidar of Collegiate High school, to death.
Later accused Papu was arrested and sent to jail. Based on the complaint filed by the family members of the deceased a case (No-609/12) was registered.
After long seven years of trial, the court today awarded life time imprisonment to the accused and slapped a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the convict.
