Constructions permitted by North Lakhimpur Municipality Board (NLMB) in the district of Assam which allegedly had violated existing civic norms and laws received a body blow on Saturday.

Two such commercial buildings, Shivam Shoppe and Upahar Market – both high rise commercial buildings constructed in North Lakhimpur town is facing the wrath of Lakhimpur district administration for violating norms because of the complicity by the NLMB.

The cases have been filed by ADC Debashish Goswami, Executive Officer, NLMB following order of inquiry against number of NLMB office bearers of the recent past by Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner.

Apart from these two commercial buildings, there are many other constructions housing hotels, nursing homes and commercial outlets in North Lakhimpur town allowed by NLMB that violates many rules and norms.

The elected body of the NLMB is also accused of allotting rooms on the ground floor of its newly constructed building among their relatives and family members.
