In a gruesome incident, a woman was beaten up, stripped and chilli powder were stuffed in her private parts by a group of men in southern Assam’s Karimganj district.
More than 10 days after the gruesome act, the perpetrators are still roaming free and police have not initiated action against them .
The incident took place on September 10 at Magura village under Bajarisora police Station of the district but came to light only on Thursday when the woman approached the Karimganj Court, the woman told reporters in Karimganj on Friday.
The woman said a group of six men on September 10 barged into her house and demanded Rs 85,000 that she had received as a fund under the Centre’s flagship Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
When she refused to give the money, the men beat her up and stripped and also tied her father-in-law to a post in her house.
The woman said they left her house only after she had promised them that she would give the money. The woman further said that the men warned of dire consequences if she reports the matter to police.
She alleged that one Luinirbul Sorai brought the five men to forcefully collect the PMAY money from her. The victim lives with her father-in-law and two sons.
“Next day, when I went to lodge a complaint to police at Magura police outpost, the six men along with some villagers rounded me and stripped me. They, both men and women, later stuffed chilli powder in my private parts. I was also beaten up mercilessly…someone also videographed the entire incident,” the woman said.
“They threatened me to keep quiet or else they would make the video public,” she added.
A case under sections 120B, 448, 354B, and 392 of the IPC has been registered against Luinirbul, Luinalpal Sorai, Rimannir Sorai and 12 others following the woman approached a court in Karimganj.
A video of the incident has now surfaced on the social media.
