The regional party, Karbi Anglong Democratic Forum (KADF), during a convention on Sunday, has appointed new convenors.

The new KADF convenors are former Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Jivan Ch. Pathak and Lipson Bey.

Former Executive Member (EM), KAAC and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) from Amri D. Uphing Maslai have vacated the post of convenor.

The KADF was formed after the ticket announcement of the BJP in the last KAAC elections 2016.

In that election, KADF fielded 14 candidates as Independents and 2 of them came out successful.

The winners were Richard Tokbi from Duarbagori and D. Uphing Maslai from Amri.

The KADF convention was held at Tiwa Cultural Bhawan on Sunday to gather opinions from its members about the party’s future.

The meeting was also held to discuss to which party they would extend support.

KADF convenor Maslai said, “There has been still mass support for the KADF and we are discussing the ways and means to strengthen the KADF. But a final decision will come up after opinions from members. We need to appreciate the leadership quality of CEM Tuliram Ronghang as he has executed several schemes for development of the district. We alone cannot run a regional party. We need to support the party which is in power at KAAC for the sake of development.”

Former EMs Dhaniram Engleng and Ramsing Tokbi said, the KADF has to be strengthened.

Lipson Bey, former MAC Samson Tisso, MAC Richard Tokbi and others attended the meeting.
