With the Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the flying squads and police have together seized an amount of Rs 3 lakhs from two Bhutanese citizens in Chirang district of Assam.
The two persons were caught in Runikhata situated along the Indo-Bhutan border of Chirang district.

As per reports, the two Bhutanese citizens have been identified as Digmay Dorji and Rinchan Trechigeng.
The cash was being carried in a Scorpio car bearing the registration number AS 01 DV 1033. The driver of the car has been identified as Anowar Hussain.
The two Bhutanese citizens along with the driver have been taken to Runikhata police station for interrogation.

According to reports, Magistrate Ringkhang Mushahary was present at the scene for further investigation.
There have been reports of a number of captures of vehicles carrying illegal cash by the flying squads in various districts of Assam.
Flying squads have recently recovered an amount of Rs 2,50,000 in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
Reports stated that the amount was seized by the flying squad at Karigaon under Kokrajhar Police Station.
The huge amount of cash was seized from one Daniel Basumatary of Dangshibari Village in Assam’s Chirang district.
The cash was being carried in an Alto K10 bearing the registration number AS 26A/6014.
An amount of Rs 6,72,830 in cash was also recently seized by the in-charge of Borghat police outpost, Dipjyoti Bharali near Kaliabhomora bridge in Sonitpur district of Assam.
The amount was seized from a Maruti 800 ALTO car and the person in the vehicle claimed the amount belonged to a business firm based in Tezpur.
Cash amounting to Rs 9 lakhs was also seized recently from a vehicle in Orang in Udalguri district of Assam.
The huge amount of cash was found in the vehicle (AS-06-U-3455) by the Orang police while checking vehicles in the area.
