Sawariya Bhakt Mandal, Hojai in Assam is going to organize Shyam Katha and Shyam Samagam this New Year from January 3 to January 6 next. The event will be held at Jugal Kishore Kedia Smriti Bhawan in Hojai.

Informing this to Northeast Now, conveners of this sacred event, Rajesh Kejriwal, Niranjan Sarawagi, Sunil Bhimsaria, Pramod More and  Sanjay Murarka together said, for the three-day religious programme, Bal Veyas Priyanshi Kishorii of Ratangarh in Rajasthan has been invited to recite Shyam Katha and the main attractions will be the Shyam darbar, live  tableaus  of Lord Shyam during Katha and hymes.

The main event will commence at 3 pm and will continue till 6 pm. Shyam aarti  and prasadam will also be distributed everyday after the katha programme, they added.

They also informed that on the fourth day, that is on January 6 from 3 pm onwards Shyam Mandal of Sivasagar will organize Shyam Samagam at the same venue and the four days religious programme will  conclude  with Shyam Bhandar (distribution of prasadam).

Members of Shyam Bhakt Mandal further informed they are excited as the new year will began with Sri Shyam Katha and samagam and this is for the first time that such a religious event on Lord Shyam is going to be held on such a large scale in Hojai district.

During the religious programme, devotees of Hojai as well as from Lumding, Lanka, Nagaon, Kotayatuli, Daboka, Chaparmukh and Jamnamukh, along with other regions will mark their attendance at Shyam Darbar.
