In view of a Gauhati High Court order, the Assam government has decided to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2019 for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level.
The State government has invited online applications from the candidates having permanent residence in Assam, who intend to appear in Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper II (Upper Primary) of TET.
The opening for receipt of online application is September 2, 2019 while the last date of receipt of online application is September 17, 2019.
While e-admit will be issued on September 30, the examination will be held on October 20, 2019.
Informing this, the Member Secretary, Empowered Committee on Elementary, TET, Assam, Government of Assam, issued an advertisement on Friday.
It said even after possessing requisite eligibility criteria, the TET qualified teachers, who are engaged in the schools as per their preferences, still apply for transfers to schools located in other districts.
“This prevents the teachers from becoming truly invested in and building relationship with the children, school and the community where they serve,” the government advertisement said.
“Considering this, the districts have been grouped into several zones and a candidate has to select his preferred Zone while applying for the TET,” it added.
After qualifying in TET, the candidates will get preference for engagement as a teacher in his/her preferred Zone in accordance with the Government Notification No PMA.277/2019/7-A dated 22/08/2019.
“This will be applicable for both regular and contractual posts,” it further said.
There are total 7 notified Zones across Assam.
The districts under different Zones are: Zone No. 1 – Dhubri, South Salmara- Mankachar, Goalpara, Barpeta and Bongaigaon; Zone No. 2 – Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar and Udalguri.
In Zone No. 3, there are 8 districts including Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Darrang, Morigaon, Nagaon and Hojai.
