The Assam Government in an order issued on Monday effected a reshuffle in the State bureaucracy.
As per the order issued by TC Sarma, Secretary to the Government of Assam, Personnel (A) department, MGVK Bhanu has been relieved of his responsibility as the additional chief secretary to the Government of Assam, Panchayat and Rural Development while he retains the post of additional chief secretary to the Government of Assam, Labour Welfare.
LS Changsan, principal secretary to the Government of Assam, Home, Political, Passport, Border Protection and Development and Implementation of Assam Accord, has been given additional charge as principal secretary to the Government of Assam, Cultural Affairs.
Dr JB Ekka, commissioner, Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD), Assam and principal secretary to the Government of Assam, P&RD, has been substantively posted as principal secretary to the Government of Assam, P&RD and Transformation and Development.
On the other hand, Shyam Jagannathan, commissioner and secretary, Finance, has been posted as commissioner and secretary to the Government of Assam, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary in addition to his substantive post.
Preetam Saikia, commissioner and secretary to the Government of Assam, Cultural Affairs and Elementary Education, has been appointed as commissioner and secretary to the Government of Assam, Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture in addition to his substantive post.
Dr M Angamuthu, commissioner and secretary to the Government of Assam, Guwahati Development Department, Urban Development, managing director, Guwahati Smart City Limited and chief executive officer, GMDA, has been appointed as commissioner and secretary to the Government of Assam, Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes (WPT&BC) department in addition to his substantive post.
Dr P Ashok Babu has been appointed as secretary to the Government of Assam, P&RD and commissioner, P&RD.
Varnali Deka, additional secretary to the Government of Assam, has been newly appointed as DC, Goalpara. Deka was earlier holding the post of additional secretary to the Government of Assam, Health and Family Welfare and director at AYUSH and PD, AIDS Control Society.
Ghanshyam Dass, DC, Goalpara, has been appointed as joint secretary to the Government of Assam, Guwahati Development Department.
