Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has greeted the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Holi.

He said that the festival of colours marks the onset of warmer season and victory of good over evil.

In a message, Prof Mukhi  said, “I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Assam in particular and the country in general on the auspicious occasion of Holi – the festival of colours. May this festival bring peace, harmony, prosperity and happiness in our lives.”

Prof Mukhi also said the colours of Holi reflect the State’s diversity and multi-cultural heritage. “I hope the festival becomes a harbinger of joy, happiness and merriment for all cutting across all caste, creed and ethnicity”, the Governor added.

State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also greeted the people on the occasion of Dol Jatra and Holi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, chief minister Sonowal said that the celebrations of Holi would strengthen the bond of brotherhood, friendship and harmony. He also said that the dappled colours of Holi apart from showing the unique diversities of our society, reflects the inherent multi-coloured socio-cultural and ethnic characteristics of our festival.

He also said, “I hope the celebration of the festival of colour would also enrich the cultural and ethnic life of Assam and the country as a whole besides ushering in peace and tranquility in our society.”

State industries and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary too has extended warm wishes to the people of Assam on the auspicious occasion of Holi.

In a statement, minister Patowary said, ‘May the festival of colours strengthen the bond of love and friendship in our society.’

The minister also hoped that the festival of colours ushers in peace, harmony and prosperity in the lives of the people of the State.
