Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Friday said that library plays an important role in enriching our knowledge base, adding that it also increases the stock of our knowledge bank and makes us fit to face life upfront.
Governor Prof Mukhi said this while laying the foundation stone of a new building for digital library and art gallery at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati on Friday.
The Governor said that, the collections of books should be very carefully done so that the library apart from quenching the thirsts of knowledge, stimulates physical and mental faculties.
Prof Mukhi hoped that the setting up of the library would help the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan to increase their thinking potential and give them time and scope to spend their time in library.
It may be mentioned that the digital library and art gallery would be constructed by the State Public Works Department (PWD) with a total cost of Rs 205.545 lakh.
The expected time for the completion of the work is one year.
Secretary of the Governor Sanjib Kumar Gohain Barua, Chief Engineer of PWD (Buildings) Jyotish Sharma along with the officers and staffs of the Raj Bhavan and PWD were also present during the function.
