Senior sports journalist Gitika Talukdar from Guwahati is all set to represent Northeast India for the coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2018. She has been officially selected and accredited by the FIFA.
The FIFA World Cup 2018 will be held from June 14 to July 15 in Russia.
She is the only female photojournalist to cover the prestigious quadrennial international football tournament from the region.
Talukdar has represented many leading publications for sporting events like Indian Premier League, Indian Super League, India vs. Pakistan league Matches, Common Wealth Games, FIFA under 17 and the South Asian Games.
She has worked for Purvanchal Prahari, Amar Asom, India Today group since 2008 apart from PTI and AFP news agencies.
Talukdar will be flying to Russia on June 10 to cover the entire series of group matches, semifinal and final matches which will be scheduled to take place in Moscow, Kazan, Samara, St. Petersburg and Russian other host cities.
