Anundoram Borooah was not only an efficient administrator but was such a scholar of repute whose contributions will always be relevant especially in the field of Sanskrit grammar and literature.

Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya said this while inaugurating a two-day national seminar on ‘Anundoram Borooah’s Contributions and its Relevance at Present’ in Guwahati on Thursday.

The minister, while praising the organizers, laid emphasis on conducting more such programmes to benefit the young generation of researchers.

The seminar has been jointly organized by the Asiatic Society, Kolkata and the Anundoram Borooah Institute of Language, Art & Culture (ABILAC), Assam.

Renowned Sanskrit Scholar Prof Ashok Kumar Goswami delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session while Director of ABILAC Dr Dilip Kumar Kalita introduced the theme of the seminar.

On behalf of the Asiatic Society, Dr Satyabrata Chakrabarti, general secretary of the Society attended the seminar.

It may be mentioned here that renowned Sanskrit scholars and researchers from across the country are presenting their papers in the seminar.

The seminar concludes on Friday.
