In order to discuss Sustainable Development Goals, Tezpur University in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is organizing East Zone Vice Chancellor’s meet 2021-22 from January 10-11, 2022.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

“The agenda for the annual meet for the year is to realize the SDGs, which include-Ensuring access to affordable and clean energy (SDG-7), Taking urgent action to combat climate change (SDG-13), Conserving marine resources for sustainable development (SDG-14); Protecting terrestrial ecosystems and halting biodiversity loss (SDG-15)”, Prof Sankar Deka, the chief coordinator underlined the agenda.

At the meet, all the 4 SDGs will be taken up for discussion and a commitment statement will be framed for the universities to ensure that the SDGs are achieved, Professor Deka stated.

Established in 1925, the Association of Indian Universities is a common platform to bring all higher education institutions to India.

Association of Indian Universities facilitates Heads of Institutions for taking up issues in Higher Education for its betterment, including organizing meets of Vice-Chancellors from time to time.
