Demands for autonomous states in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao gained momentum with several social and student organizations of the two hills districts in unison decided to march to the Parliament on July 27.

Dimasa Students’ Union (DSU) general secretary Premith Sengyung said, “Autonomous state is our constitutional right.”

Apart from DSU, Karbi Anglong North Cachar Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KANCHASDCOM), KSA and other social organizations will join the ‘Parliament Cholo’ or March to Parliament programme on July 27.

These organizations will put pressure on the Centre for immediate implementation of Article 244 (A) of the Indian Constitution creating autonomous states for Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong.
