With general elections knocking at all political parties’ door, the time has come to sound the poll bugle.
No wonder, a national political party like the BJP, would like not to be left behind. Especially in south Assam, where the BJP lost all of it’s three seats of Diphu, Karimganj and Silchar in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Holding a ‘Shakti Kendra Sammelan’ in Silchar’s police parade ground on Saturday afternoon for these three seats in Assam, deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, who was the chief guest of this programme, said, “Our opposition, the Indian National Congress, is toeing the lines of Pakistan, when the whole of India is still mourning for such a dastardly act in Jammu and Kashmir. For casualties in Uri, our Prime Minster carried out a surgical strike. If we go on for a final strike on Pakistan, on whose side would Congress party be, they have to tell the nation.”
Keshav Prasad Maurya addressing the gathering also said, “We would definitely form a magnanimous Ram Mandir in Ayodhaya and no force in the world can stop it. The Congress party has been the biggest hurdle. Ram Mandir for us is not an election issue rather it is an issue of faith, beliefs and trust. I can assure you all as deputy chief minister of UP that whenever we make a temple out there, not a single brick laid by Babar would be left behind.”
On the issue of all political parties joining hands to remove PM Narendra Modi and his NDA government from power, Keshav Maurya said, “We have a saying in our parts that they all have dressed themselves as ‘groom’ sans the bridal party. Should the people vote for a stable government or a meek one, is for all electorates to decide.”

Addressing the gathering of party workers, state BJP president, Ranjit Dass, informed, “No state president or district president of the party can contest the Lok Sabha elections. We should not see who the candidates are for these seats rather just vote for our party so that we can win seats of Diphu, Karimganj and Silchar.”
Former deputy speaker and MLA from Silchar, Dilip Kumar Paul, went a step further. In his address and citing the ill fated deaths of tea garden labourers after consuming spurious liquor in Golaghat and Jorhat districts, he said, “Similar incident also happened in UP a few months back. It was a BJP ruled state. Now it has happened in Assam where BJP is in power. I am sure some other forces are behind these nefarious acts and we need to be careful from our enemies.”
Meanwhile, among all these political statements by BJP in a Shakti Kendra Sammelan, many empty chairs inside the venue depicted a sorry figure. Can BJP win all these three seats of Diphu, Karimganj and Silchar, this time round, is a millon dollar question.
