The Opposition Congress in Assam has appealed the Election Commission of India (ECI) not to allow live telecast of the scheduled rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Assam on Thursday when the first phase of polling is already underway.
APCC president Ripun Bora has sent a letter to the ECI on Thursday asking the commission not to allow any local or national television channels to live cast the speeches of the Prime Minister.

“In ensuring the implementation of the provisions of the model code of Conduct, we request you to keep a strict vigil so that no local, national television channel is allowed to conduct live telecast of the speeches of Prime Minister Modi today,” Bora said in his letter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address two public rallies in Assam on Thursday – one at Kendukona in Kamrup district and the other one at Cachar district.
