The Child Welfare Society here on Saturday filed an FIR against the Deputy Registrar of Dibrugarh University, Paramananda Sonowal for providing fake birth certificate of girl who was engaged as domestic help in his residence.
On Tuesday, a joint team of Dibrugarh district administration, labour department, police and Childline rescued three children, who were engaged as domestic help, from different locations of Dibrugarh.
A girl and one boy were rescued from the houses of Usman Ali and Imran Hussain of Dibrugarh.
The Labour department has filed separate FIRs against all the three house owners at Dibrugarh police station under section 3 of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016. The rescued children have been kept at a children home.
As per latest amendment, domestic labour is hazardous and if anybody found engaging child as domestic help is considered a criminal offence.
Recently the district administration had constituted a task force consisting of community leaders, anganwadi workers, social activists, NGOs, village defence parties, village headmen, locals and the police to tackle the issue of child labourers.
Significantly, few days ago four children were rescued from different area of the district.
