Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal felicitated young shooter from the State, Hriday Hazarika, for clinching gold in the junior men’s 10 m air rifle event at the ISSF World Championship in Changwon Korea at the progranmme held at Shilpgram here this evening.
It may be noted that young prodigy Hriday Hazarika hails from Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district of Assam.
He is a son of Dr Sarat Hazarika and Iva Hazarika. Sonowal feted him with a Gamocha, a Sarai, a citation and a cheque of Rs 25 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal while congratulating Hriday Hazarika on his extraordinary achievement in the recently concluded International Shooting Sports Federation Tournament said, “People of Assam is proud your achievement which will be a source of inspiration to the youth of the State. You have won our hearts.”
Hailing his meteoric rise as a world class shooter from the state, Chief Minister Sonowal assured all possible help and support from the State government in his journey to become a world class shooter at all levels.
Sonowal also assured all help so that he can earn a medal in 2020 Tokyo Olympic. He also lauded his grit, determination, hard labour which have made him a shooter per excellence and also he acknowledged the tremendous sacrifice of his parents.
Chief Minister Sonowal also announced a world class shooting range in Assam so that amateur shooters from the state get state of the art training and the state will be in a position to produce more and more shooters like Hriday Hazarika. He also thanked Hriday Hazarika for bringing shooting closer to the people of Assam with his success and promote the game of shooting in Assam.
Sonowal also congratulated Pokhila Ingtipi a girl from Diphu on clinching bronze in Asia Pacific Masters’ Games held in Malaysia.
Expressing his feeling, Hriday Hazarika expressed his gratitude to his coaches, his parents and of course the people of Assam.
Organized by Sports and Youth Welfare Department the programme was attended by Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Public Health Minister Rihon Daimary, Hill Areas Development Minister Sum Ronghang, MP Bijaya Chakraborty, MLA Satyabrata Kalita, Member Secretary State Level Advisory Board on Sports and Youth Welfare Lakshya Konwar, parents of Hriday Hazarika, Arjuna Awardee Bhogeswar Baruah and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
