Monoj Debnath, a young arm wrestler from upper Assam’s Dibrugarh, is all set to represent India in the 40th World Arm Wrestling Championship to be held in Antalya, Turkey from October 13 to 22.
The young arm wrestler is currently ranked at 4th in Asian rankings and 6th at the world ranking in arm wrestling championship.

Monoj secured 6th position in the 55 kg senior men’s category in the 38th World Arm-Wrestling Championship held at Blagoevgrad in Bulgaria in 2016.
He won gold in both right and left arm challenge at the 41st National Arm-wrestling championship held in New Delhi in May, 2017.
“This time I am hopeful to do better result and win gold medal for India in my category. It’s a dream come true and a proud moment for me to represent for India. I will do better this time from my previous world championship,” Monoj told Northeast Now on Sunday evening over phone from Bangalore.

Manoj is the son of Babul and Sabita Debnath of Lachit Nagar area in Dibrugarh.
Monoj said this time he is giving enough time in gym and practicing hard to do better in the world arm wrestling championship.
