Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal with the meritorious students at the event in Dibrugarh on Monday.

Assam chief minister Sarbannda Sonowal said that if the meritorious students of Assam prove their dedication, devotion, diligence and discipline they can bring about positive changes not only to their state but the nation as a whole.

Speaking on the occasion of conferring Subha Baruah Award for academic excellence on the meritorious students belonging to Sonowal Kachari tribal community and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council area for securing first division in HSLC and HSSLC Examinations at Bishnu Rabha Auditorium in Dibrugarh University here on Monday, chief minister Sonowal said that the students of Assam are very talented.

“It is only through discipline, dedication and diligence they can reach the zenith of success in their academic endeavour,” Sonowal said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been emphasizing on diligence, 130 crore people of the country giving a positive response to the Prime Minister’s call should bring about much desired changes in the society through their hard labour.

Responding to Prime Minister’s appeal, people from all the 29 states and 7 Union Territories of the country have committed to make India one of the best countries in the world.

He also said that the meritorious students of the state will have to lead the state putting discipline and diligence at the top to steer the country to excellence.

Sonowal asked the students that besides studying 10 hours a day, they should also strive to achieve excellence in fields of science and technology, sports, astronomy, space science etc.

If good human resources are churned in the state, Assam can take a strong position before the world, the chief minister observed.

Chief minister Sonowal said that in line with Modi’s ‘Team India’ spirit, people of Assam should work resolutely to champion the cause of ‘Team Assam’ by making a judicious use of its natural resources.

Sonowal handed over Subha Baruah Academic Excellence Award to Shruti Sonowal for securing 5th position in the recently announced Higher Secondary Examinations 2019 along a certificate and a cheque worth Rs. 1 lakh.

He also handed over award and scholarships to the meritorious students for securing first division in HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

Synchronising with the occasion Sonowal also released a booklet christened ‘Amar Pratibha Amar Gaurav’ containing  the photos of the meritorious students.
