An agenda with a list of concerns of the children of Assam has been submitted to the BJP, Congress, AIUDF and AGP by the Adolescent and Child Rights Network Assam (ACRNA) on Monday.

The document that has been prepared after consultation with more than 500 children had been submitted to the major political parties with the hope that it finds a place in their election manifestos.

The agenda focuses on issues such as health, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene, safety and security, reports DH.

All the newborn babies should get birth registration certificates without any hassles and vaccination facilities should be made available to all children irrespective of their location, the agenda stated.

It also stated that there should be proper monitoring of healthcare institutions and availability of ambulance services for 24 hours.

The document also states that all political parties must treat the issue of nutrition for pregnant and lactating mothers very seriously.

Also, there should be efficient services available for pregnant women and child delivery services should be carried out by experienced persons.

The agenda also seeks that the political parties address the issue of nutrition deficiency among children and ensure that there is proper implementation of nutrition supplementation programmes.

It also urged the political parties to ensure that proper drinking water is supplied and sanitary toilets are constructed in public places and educational institutions.

The agenda also seeks fulfilment of the educational needs of children staying in flood-prone areas of the state and construction of proper infrastructure in educational institutions.

It also stated that sufficient livelihood opportunities should be created for the poor and children should be protected from all kinds of crimes and dangers.
