Two persons lost their lives in Golaghat district of Assam on Saturday after consuming spurious liquor even as the biggest hooch tragedy in the State is still fresh in the minds of everyone in the State.
According to reports, the two deceased have been identified as Ratul Das and Jitu Das of Moringi Panikora village in Numaligarh of the district.
Meanwhile, another victim identified as Dipak Rajbonshi has been admitted to hospital in serious condition.
After the hooch tragedy that took place last month in the districts of Golaghat and Jorhat that killed around 200 people, the death of two more persons on Saturday has sent shock waves across the district of Golaghat.
Notably, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal had issued stern instructions to the district administrations across all districts of the State to deal firmly against illegal liquor trade after the tragic incident last month.
However, Saturday’s incident has exposed the integrity of the district administration and blatantly exposed how seriously the district administrations had taken the chief minister’s directive.
