The BJP may have won all the nine Town Committees in the twin hill districts but it was a taught fight within the BJP to defeat its own candidates.

The BJP candidates, allegedly backed by an Assam Cabinet minister, have lost in several of the Town Committees, including Diphu and Howraghat.

A newbie but significant loser of the BJP in Diphu Town Committee is Rangmukrang Ronghang from Ward No. 8, allegedly chosen personally by an Assam Cabinet minister to be the chairman of Diphu Town Committee due to infighting as dedicated BJP workers were ignored.
