The biggest religious fair of Assam, the Ambubachi Mela is slated to be held in Kamakhya temple of Guwahati from June 22 next.
The religious fair which witnesses the footfall of a large number of tourists from India and abroad will come to an end on June 26.
Ambubachi Mela will commence from the midnight of June 22 and conclude on the morning of June 26.
The initial estimated budget for the religious fair this year is Rs 2.5 crore.
In order to monitor the preparations going for the upcoming Ambubachi Mela, The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) Biswajit Pegu along with various other officials of the state government departments visited the Kamakhya temple on Saturday.
For discussing about the Ambubachi Mela, a meeting was held at Circuit House in Guwahati on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) Biswajit Pegu , the Doloi of Kamakhya Temple and various officials of the state transport and police departments were present in the meeting.
Various security measures were discussed during the meeting for the smooth conduction of the religious fair.
Police officials said that sufficient number of CCTV cameras will be installed at various places around Kamakhya temple for smooth conduction of the religious fair.
Apart from installation of CCTV cameras, various SDRF and NDRF personnel will also be dispatched for full security of tourists during the days of Ambubachi Mela.
