The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has condemned the recent incident of the killing of two young artists, who became the victims of rumour and mistaken identity in hands of an unruly mob at Panjuri village under Dokmoka Police Station in Karbi Anglong district.

Lawrence Islary, general secretary, in a press release issued on Sunday stated that “ABSU condemns such intolerant and inhuman act”.

Islary also stated, “It is very unfortunate and sorrowful incident where an unruly mob indulged in such crime” and expressed solidarity towards the deceased’s family members.

The ABSU also appealed to the people to remain away from any kind of rumour spread on the social media. The Union also stated that through the social media fake news have been spread to disturb the ordinary peace-loving people.

The students’ union sought the Government and the police to take quick action and provide justice by punishing the culprits.

The ABSU also requested the general public to remain away from the practice of mob lynching in the name of mob justice.
