A nine-year-old child was died after being hit by a speeding bike at Saralpara area in Kokrajhar district on Friday.

The child was a student of Class II.

The nine-year-old school student has been identified as Dipak Goel.

According to information, the road mishap took place while the child was playing on the roadside near his house.

He received serious injuries after being knocked down by a speeding bike.

Injured Dipak Goel was immediately taken to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

The biker has been identified as Gopal Tamang.

According to sources, the biker, Gopal Tamang, was in a drunken state while driving his bike.

Police have seized the bike involved in the mishap and arrested biker Gopal Tamang.

The body was sent to Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar for conducting post-mortem on Saturday.

It may be mentioned that rash driving and drunken driving are the major causes of road mishaps that take place across Assam.

Despite efforts are being taken by the police from time to time, incidents of rash driving and drunken driving continue to take in the State.

Kokrajhar district is also not exceptional in this regard.

The conscious section of the people of the district want the district police to take stringent steps against rash and drunken driving to stop such incidents.
