The Arunachal Pradesh tableau has been selected for participation in the 70th Republic Day tableaux parade 2019 to be held at Rajpath in New Delhi on January 26.
According to information, the tableau has been selected for participation on the theme ‘Peace Within’.
Art expert Dhruba Bhattacharjee and his team of artists have prepared the tableau in accordance with the instructions from the Union Ministry of Defence that all tableaus should be related to Mahatma Gandhi.
The selection of tableaus for the Republic Day tableaux parade is a long process which involves various stages of elimination.
An expert committee is formed for selecting the tableaus of the participating States.
After selection, the Union Ministry of Defence may ask for various kind of modifications, if necessary.
However, within a short period and at a short notice, the Information and Public Relations (IPR) Department of Arunachal Pradesh successfully prepared the tableau and got its final selection.
For the Republic Day tableaux parade 2019, only 14 tableaus of 14 States have been selected out of 32 participating States.
From the Northeastern region, tableaus of only Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have been selected.
The tableau of Arunachal Pradesh won the first prize in the tableau category of the Republic Day parade in 2017. The theme of 2017 was Yak Dance of Monpas.
Tableaus from Arunachal Pradesh have selected for 13 times over the years.
The team which prepared the tableau comprises Dhruba Bhattacharjee, Hage Habung, exhibition assistant Roto Tadi, exhibition artist Sangey Tsewang and other artistes from West Kameng district.
