The violence that rocked Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday and Saturday took its toll on veteran, actor-director Satish Kaushik.

Five theatres that Satish Kaushik is associated with were burnt in the protests against the government move to grant permanent residency certificates (PRCs) to non-Arunachal Scheduled Tribes.
Satish Kaushik was among 50 other delegates who were evacuated to Guwahati after the first Itanagar International Film Festival was cancelled following eruption of violence.

The veteran filmmaker had reached Itanagar on Friday was getting ready for the evening function of the first Itanagar International Film Festival when organizers called him and others in the hotel to stay back as there was ‘some problem’.
By then the protesters were on a rampage and pelting stones apart from setting the venue on fire.
Later Satish Kaushik and other delegates were escorted out of Arunachal Pradesh to Guwahati.
