Claiming that shortage of subject teachers and lack of school infrastructures are the main causes of the deteriorating academic performance of students in all Galo inhabited areas in particular and Arunachal Pradesh in general, the Galo Students’ Union (GSU) on Saturday stated that the need of the hour is to find remedial measures and to improve the same at the earliest.

In a bid to get first hand information about dismal performance of students in recently declared CBSE results in Galo inhabited areas, the GSU recently launched consultative coordination meeting in various places, involving school management development committee, principals and headmasters.

Accordingly, the GSU team reached Dumporijo Circle in Upper Subansiri on Saturday and convened meeting with all the BEOs, principals and headmasters.

Interacting with the school authorities, GSU president Mepe Ete stated that the results of CBSE 2018-19 from Galo inhabited areas were very disappointing and the entire community wants to know the exact cause attributes to the poor performance of students.

Ete appealed to the principals and headmasters to ensure that the performance of students is improved in coming days through continuous efforts from subject teachers.

Stressing on maintenance of communal harmony among the tribes as Dumporijo circle is inhabited by Galo, Tagin and Nyishi community, he said that cordial relation amongst the brothers will boost the peaceful co-existence thereby encourage the educational advancement in the region.

He also appealed to the parents to cooperate with school administration and avoid interfering in the affairs of school management.

Meanwhile, the GSU team has also appealed the newly elected local MLA, to give special impetus on the education, health and road communication of the area, as the region is lacking in these sectors for the last many years.

The Union exuded hope that the MLA would look into the same.
