The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has called upon the State Government to pay immediate heed to the respective demands placed by All East Kameng District Students Union (AEKDSU), All East Siang District Students Union (AESDSU) and the All Tawang District Students Union (ATDSU).
While the AEKDSU is in protest mode demanding justice for the brutal murder of late Toko Yame and has already organized a mammoth peace rally in the heart of the capital on June 25, the All East Siang District Students Union on the other hand observed a dawn to dusk bandh in East Siang district on Thursday demanding justice for late Ojing Taying.

“The unions are aggrieved by the fact that Late Yame was killed nine months ago at Tawang and the police are yet to file a charge sheet in the case. Simultaneously in the instance of Late Ojing Taying, a year has passed but the status of the investigation remains the same. The State Government cannot run away from its responsibilities and should immediately deliver justice to the bereaved family members of late Yame and Taying,” AAPSU president Hawa Bagang said in a statement on Thursday evening.
Yame, a class 12 student of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Tawang had gone missing after a scuffle broke out involving students of GHSS and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Tawang on September 16 last year.
His semi-decomposed body was found a week later at the Biga waterfall, near JNV, on September 23.

Late Taying, a former finance secretary of the AEDSU was brutally attacked by some unidentified miscreants on the fateful night of June 10 last year.
He unfortunately succumbed to his injuries a few days later at the GNRC, Guwahati.
Bagang further added that Tawang is already witnessing a students’ uprising against the illegal issuance of ST certificates to the Tibetan refugees.
“The All Tawang District Students Union has called a 12-hour bandh at Tawang on July 2 on the issue and the contagious and sad development across different regions of the State reflects poor governance on part of the government,” said Bagang.
AEKDSU, AEKDSU and ATDSU are all federal units of the AAPSU.
The AAPSU further also questioned the State Government on why government land at Itanagar Club near IG Park has been given to the state BJP.
Decrying the move in its strongest term, the union said the plot of land is for public utility and should not be the domain of a particular political party.
