Twitterattis have expressed mixed reactions as a picture, shared by IPS officer Madhur Verma of two police personnel sleeping on the ground amid lockdown, went viral on Twitter.

Verma, who is Arunachal Pradesh’s deputy inspector general of police, while sharing the picture, tweeted: “Isn’t comfortable bed and an eight hour sleep such a luxury? Yes it is… if you are a cop!”

Highlighting the dedication with which the cops have been working to fight coronavirus, the IPS officer termed them Corona warriors. Verma tweeted: “Proud of these #CoronaWarriors.”

While lauding the dedication of the cops during the time of crisis arising out of the COVID19 pandemic, the twitterattis while commenting on the image pointed out that the police personnel should be well equipped and have enough resources to use while combating coronavirus.

A twitteratti said: I am sorry to say this but there is nothing to feel proud about this..None I repeat none of the police person deserves to be treated so badly, pls stop enjoying pain. Government should at least provide vans with bed so cops can sleep properly.”

In his reply to Verma’s picture, social worker Mohan Garg said the Indian police force is doing excellent duty in the time of crisis and hoped the force will continue its good works.

Garg tweeted: “Indian Police Force, contrary to it’s bad reputation, is doing excellent duty in present time of grave fear & crisis.  I hope, they’ll continue this good work.”

“I hope, they’ll continue this good work,” he added.

Another twitteratti said it’s time for a major police reform.

“This shows how police force is handled badly by not only the states but also the @IPS_Association. It’s right time there is a major push for police reforms with fixed working hours and modern practices of policing. If the senior officers push this no politician can stop,” said the twitteratti.

Another twitteratti termed the cops as ‘guardian angel’.

“A big salute to true warriors. Let’s always respect and support them,” another user said.
