In order to highlight socio-economic, cultural and educational issues of the Tangsa community and voice for the community, a new youth organization titled ‘Tangsa Youth Association’ has been formed for Bordumsa-Diyun circle in Changlang district during a meeting held here at Bordumsa Balijan under the aegis of Tangsa Development Society (TDS).

The 15-member executive committee of the association was formed  during a general meeting presided over by the president of the TDS, Bohom Bo, which would work to attain the various laid-down objectives under the leadership of Samirgam Yongkuk of Bordumsa Makantong, who was unanimously elected as  the president of the new association.

“Our Tangsa brethren from various locations of Bordumsa-Diyun circle including Makantong, Dumba Mossang, Wagun Ponthai, Galenja Ponthai, Balu Pather, Longkhong Ponthai and Borkhet village felt the need of a united platform to redress the perennial grievances among the youths of the community. Besides, the association will work for all the causes of the Tangsa community in terms of development, peace, employment, unity and promotion of the sense of fraternity among all,” said Bohom Bo, president of the TDS.

Isak Kimsing, the adviser of the association, “The association, though is non-political in nature and spirits, would also be instrumental to ensure that people in general and the younger generation in particular are politically educated to assess the reasons behind the backwardness of the place and community.”

Kimsingalso said the association would also initiate collective steps to bring in much-needed development in the villages at different fronts mostly inhabited by the Tangsa people.

The association will also strive to create awareness among the people on various issues including unemployment, poverty, superstitions, illiteracy and motivate the people of the society to stand united and fight the anti-agencies for overall peace and progress, said Babul Mossang, an active youth leader of Bordumsa.

Mossang added, “The association will also fight strongly voice against the prevailing drug abuse in the area and promote cleanliness drive across the villages.”
