Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday conveyed his greetings to the Wancho Naga indigenous community on the auspicious occasion of Oriah.
The Wancho Naga community are mostly confined to the Patkai Hills in the Longding district of the state.

Oriah is the most important festival of the community that depicts Mother Nature and is marks the advent of spring.
It is usually celebrated during the first half of the lunar month, though the dates vary from village to village.
People perform different rituals before a sacred bamboo post with seven branches that is erected during the festival.

The Wnacho Naga people are known for their intricate wood carvings and handicrafts and handloom products.
