The State Election Commission of Arunachal Pradesh has decided to hold the Municipal and Panchayat elections on December 22.
The election was temporarily put on hold in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic. The elections were earlier scheduled to be held in April-May.

The election will be held for two municipal bodies — Itanagar Municipal Corporation and Pasighat Municipal Board.
The Panchayat election will be held for 25 Zilla Parishad with 241 ZPCs, 2,215 GPs and 8,436 GPCs in Anurachal Pradesh.
Official sources said the election notification will be issued on November 24, while December 2 will be the last date of filing of the nominations.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be on December 4, while December 7 has been set as the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
The single-phase election will be held on December 22, and counting will take place on December 26.
The state election commission would like to complete the entire election process on or before December 31.
A total of 7,39,284 electorates will exercise their franchise, while the state election commission will use EVMs for Municipal elections, and ballot papers for the Panchayat elections.
The panchayat elections, along with the polls to the Itanagar and Pasighat municipal councils, are due since May, 2018.
For the first time in the history of Panchayat elections in Arunachal Pradesh, 27 elections observers will be deployed, one each for each district.
The state Election Commission in coordination with Arunachal Pradesh Home Department has also drafted a detailed security arrangement for the election.
