The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has decided to postpone the State Public Service Combined Competitive Examination-2020 which was scheduled for May 17 (preliminary) and October 9-17 (mains) until further notice.

The decision to postpone the examinations was taken as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, a statement from APPSC secretary AR Talwade said on Tuesday.

The commission has also decided to provide one more opportunity to the candidates, interested in applying for the posts of junior engineer (civil) under the Rural Works department and senior personal assistant under the civil secretariat and APPSC, for filling the online application forms.

The commission said the date for filling the forms would be notified in due course of time.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh State Election Commissioner Hage Kojeen has volunteered to contribute 30 per cent of his gross salary of a month to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in his bid to help the government in combating the COVID-19.

Kojeen also appealed to all likeminded people to come forward to contribute as per one’s capacity so as to strengthen the hands of the state government as well as the district administration during this period of national crisis.

Lauding the efforts of the state government and frontline warriors like the police and other security personnel, healthcare workers and other agencies of essential services, the SEC has urged all people religiously adhere to the guidelines issued by the government during the lockdown period.
