Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Monday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get 20-22 seats across the Northeast in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
“Our party will get 20-22 seats out of 25 in the Northeast,” claimed Khandu while addressing an election meeting in the national capital.
Delhi goes for voting on May 12.
The national capital has seven seats.
Khandu was campaigning for all the BJP candidates in the election meeting.
He said that both the Lok Sabha candidates from Arunachal Pradesh will win this time. Minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal BJP president Tapir Gao are contesting from Arunacal Pradesh.
“In the Assembly election too, BJP will win and form the next government in the state,” said Khandu.
Arunachal Pradesh went to parliamentary and Assembly polls simultaneously in the first phase on April 11, 2019.
Coming down heavily on opposition Congress, Khandu said that “Congress has exploited the countrymen for the last 70 years”.
“It’s again a time for us to give them (Congress) a lesson,” said Khandu.
The chief minister said that ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre and in northeastern states “this region has witnessed a major developments in all spheres”.
“Whether it is railways, roads and other connectivity in Northeast, the region has witnessed total change, a change which was neglected during Congress regime,” said Khandu.
