Bordumsa: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday categorically dismissed rumours circulating on social media and certain digital platforms about a possible change of leadership in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming that Chief Minister Pema Khandu continues to enjoy the full confidence of the party leadership.
Addressing a late-night press briefing, BJP spokesperson Mohesh Chai said the issue was discussed between BJP National President Nitin Nabin and Arunachal Pradesh BJP President Kaling Moyong after reports claimed that Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein was likely to replace Pema Khandu as Chief Minister.
โNational President Nitin Nabin, while speaking with State BJP President Kaling Moyong, clarified that the reports are completely untrue and no such development has taken place,โ Chai told reporters.
Rejecting the speculation in unequivocal terms, Kaling Moyong stated that there is no question of a leadership change in the state.
โPema Khandu is stable and continues to lead the state government without any doubts. The reports being circulated are baseless and misleading,โ Moyong said.
The clarification comes amid widespread rumours and social media chatter that triggered political discussions across Arunachal Pradesh earlier in the day. BJP leaders maintained that the reports are entirely fabricated and aimed at creating unnecessary confusion among party workers and the public.
Earlier, BJP MP Tapir Gao also dismissed the claims as a โpolitical hoaxโ and indicated that legal action, including filing an FIR, could be initiated against those responsible for spreading false information.
With both the BJP high command and state leadership now issuing clear denials, the ruling party has sought to put an end to speculation over the stateโs political leadership.
The BJPโs message remains unequivocal: there is no proposal, discussion, or plan to replace Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who continues to lead the government with the backing of the party leadership.
