BJP alleges fraud in Arunachal PHE department appointments, calls for SIC

Itanagar: The BJP’s Yachuli Mandal committee in Arunachal Pradesh has raised allegations of financial fraud and manipulation in recent appointments made by the Public Health Engineering & Water Supply (PHE&WS) department.

BJP Mandal president Tania Tajing claimed that the department obtained financial clearance for the supposedly “illegal” appointments through fraudulent methods.

Tajing alleged that the PHE&WS department misused a financial concurrence number meant for a different project to authorize the new appointments.

He further accused the department of attempting to influence the recent election results in the Yachuli constituency.

“Most of those appointed were from Yachuli,” Tajing stated, suggesting the timing of the appointments around the election was deliberate. “This was done to manipulate the outcome in favour of the NCP candidate.” He contrasted this with the development work undertaken by the BJP’s sitting MLA, Taba Tedir.

Tajing specifically named Chief Engineer Toko Jyoti of the PHE&WS western zone as the mastermind behind the alleged scam.

He claimed Jyoti’s brother contested the elections on an NCP ticket and that Jyoti, despite holding the Chief Engineer position, has also served as the SE (coordination) since 2007, granting him undue influence over lower-level appointments and transfers.
