The Students’ United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) on Friday took out a massive protest rally at the district headquarters of West Kameng against Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy-2014 and illegal Tibetan settlers in the district.

The rally which covered the entire tow and had hundreds of students participated in it lasted for three hours, a press release informed.

During the rally, team SUMAA led by its president Tagru Tame and vice president Kaling Moyong carried out checking of residential certificates and trading licenses of the shop and building owners and found some discrepancies.

The union subsequently submitted its ground findings list to the deputy commissioner and urged her to take immediate action and cancel the residential certificates and trading licenses of the illegal settlers by Monday.

The union further cautioned that it would take its own course of action if the same is not done and the Union members would camp at Bomdila till its demand is not met, the release added.

Immediate roll-back of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy-2014, the Tibetan committee to furnish the family tree cum records of all Tibetan refugees settled in Arunachal Pradesh and a clarification in written from the representatives of the Tibetan population that they would not ask for ‘citizenship’ in the future are some of the demands of the SUMAA.
