Bordumsa: The situation in Bordumsa in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district remained tense following a disruption of electoral proceedings.
The administration has imposed prohibitory restrictions around the office and residential quarter of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) to prevent further confrontation and maintain order.
The restrictions were imposed through Order No. B/JUD-18/2025/1509-12, dated September 4, 2026, issued by Sabadan Tayang, AP(CS) (AG), Additional District Magistrate, Bordumsa Sub-Division, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
The order came after fresh violence was reported in Bordumsa, in which APPSU activists were reportedly seriously injured. One of the injured was taken to a nearby hospital, while security was increased across the area.
Security personnel from different parts of Changlang district were also deployed to prevent further escalation.
The ADM’s order states that the hearing of claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Roll, 2026, for 49/33-Bijoypur polling station was held on September 3 at Panchayat Hall, Bordumsa.
The hearing was later adjourned to September 4 at the Conference Hall of the ADC Office following alleged obstruction by objectors and their supporters.
According to the order, at around 10.30 am on September 4, the objectors and their supporters allegedly broke open the main gate of the government office premises and disrupted the hearing.
They allegedly vandalised the Conference Hall, destroyed applications in Forms 6 and 7, damaged a government vehicle and physically assaulted the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the 49-Bordumsa (General) Assembly Constituency.
The administration cited concerns about a further breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity, as well as threats to the safety and security of government servants, government property and public records.
Under the order, no assembly of five or more persons will be permitted within a 100-metre radius of the ADC Office, Bordumsa, and the ADC’s residential quarter.
The order also prohibits the carrying of dao, machete, lathi, firearm or any other weapon or article that could be used as a weapon within the restricted area.
The restrictions came into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
The Officer-in-Charge of Bordumsa Police Station has been directed to enforce the order and take action against anyone creating nuisance or violating the prohibitory measures in accordance with law.
The restrictions have been imposed as the electoral-roll revision process remains a point of tension in the area.
The ADM’s order records allegations of forcible entry, vandalism, destruction of electoral applications, damage to government property and physical assault on an electoral officer.
Security has also been increased following the reported violence, with authorities taking measures to prevent further disruption of the electoral process.
